Thoughts

You are in my mind so much today, I still miss you as much today as 10 years ago. I can’t believe that you’re still not here. Love and miss you xx

A poem written by a very dear family friend - John Clarkson. Read by Kathy's Godson Matthew at the funeral. Kerry 'A Gentle Man' You often hear said 'he's a top man' 'a diamond' or a 'geezer' I often think to myself, what does that mean? What does it say, is it just boys talk or drunken fever? There are a few that surpass with ease, those worn out and overused labels. They are the people who are kind, you can trust and rely on, they're genuine, no side, just stable. Such people are rare and often overlooked but we all know a prime example! Kerry Sale is his name; we were blessed by the same, a gentle man pure and simple. I remember the smile, the laugh and the 'coat' all three he wore to the rugby. "Come on the Warl" he would shout at the boys, six years old to eighteen, he loved it! Some people impress and inspire with their deeds and awards are laid at their feet. Kerry was special for being just him, a man with no side or deceit. A joy to be with, an honour to know, a gent in the true sense, no flashness or show. I remember the time in Wicklow on tour; the boys were just twelve years old. Kerry carried the beer for the dad's from the chip shop, we laughed as we all staggered home! Kathy was swept off her feet at sixteen by a dashing young 'chippy' called Kerry. They married and were blessed by three lovely boys, made from love, you could see all so clearly. Now we all mourn our loss but we thank God this, Kerry's pain has finally ceased. This 'Gentle' man who we all loved and lost, is finally sleeping in peace.

Strong hardworking man, wonderful husband, fantastic father a great friend with a wicked sense of humour only some of the nice things you can say about such a gentle man. I knew you for 42 years and we've had lots of fun times, some very sad times and no matter what life hit you with you always had time for your family and friends. The world has lost a lovely man and you'll be sadly missed Dear Kerry Sale xx
